Hi 👋🏾
Im sorry your energy is draining.
Our energy will "drain". Sometimes at the end of the day or just after any kind of task. It can be normal.
Ive learned to do as much as I can while I have my energy and take breaks during any task if I find myself getting tired.
As far as sleep goes.
That's kinda tough.
Some meds for MG will interrupt your sleep pattern.
I take cellcept 2 pills 2xs a day and mestinon 1 pill a day. My dose has gone way way down.
I read that cellcept is my culprit whenever my sleep pattern got interrupted and I have spent days and weeks nodding all day and not being able to sleep at night.
My neurologist said my dose was too high.
I hope this helped.

Is evening weakness and difficulty staying asleep normal with myasthenia gravis?

Yes, worsening weakness in the evening is a common pattern with myasthenia gravis. For most people with MG, muscle weakness gets worse with activity throughout the day and improves after resting. This means strength is typically better in the morning and weaker by the end of the day.

This fluctuation happens because your muscles fatigue more easily when the connection between nerves and muscles is affected by MG. By evening, after a full day of activity, you may feel so weak that movement becomes very difficult.

Regarding sleep difficulties, while disrupted sleep isn't always directly caused by MG itself, several factors related to the condition could contribute:

* Muscle weakness affecting comfortable positioning
* Breathing difficulties if respiratory muscles are affected
* Side effects from medications
* Overall fatigue and its impact on sleep patterns

If your weakness is becoming severe enough that you can't move much, or if you're experiencing new breathing difficulties at night, these warrant immediate medical attention. Changes in sleep patterns and worsening evening weakness should definitely be discussed with your neurologist, as adjustments to medication timing or dosage might help manage these symptoms better.
