Members connected warmly over how seasons and weather affect their myasthenia gravis symptoms, agreeing that spring and fall bring the most relief while summer heat and winter cold are the hardest to manage. Several members shared helpful strategies like staying indoors with AC and fans, using cooling cloths around the neck, timing medications, and pacing activity with rest. A recurring theme was leaning on faith, community, and gratitude while navigating both the challenges of MG and personal losses.

I like spring and fall now. Summer heat πŸ₯΅ is too much and winter cold and snow ❄️ and ice 🧊 are too much to bare. I like mornings, early mornings in the summer β˜€οΈ.

That sounds really pretty where you live. Yes I love this time of year too and more so now having mg. I don't like losing the daylight but if it means being more comfortable for a while before winter then I'll take it. Spring and Fall are my better seasons now.

Hi Mary Beth,
I'm on Mestinon 120mg/ 4x a day, Cellcept 1000mg/2x a day, then Vyvgart IV 4 weeks on- 4weeks off, and in between the Vyvgart cycles I have one infusion of IVIG for my hyper/hypogammaglobulenemias & MG. I have been on this regimen for a 15 months now. Before that I was on the Mestinon, Cellcept plus IVIG every 3 weeks and in the hospital due to my MG every 2-3 months. With this regimen, mostly the addition of the Vyvgart & adjustment of the IVIG, I haven't been in the hospital since I started it. The heat still gets me though and extreme cold too. Spring and fall are nice. πŸŒ·πŸŒ»πŸπŸ‚Is there a time of year that is better for you? Or a time of day? I like early morning or around 11pm if I'm not tired.

That's great to hear that the cooler, less intense sun is making things more manageable! Many MGteam members have shared similar experiences β€” heat and direct sunlight can really take a toll on MG symptoms, so it makes total sense that a shift in the season brings some relief.

Heat can interfere with the signals between nerves and muscles, which is already a challenge with MG. So when temperatures drop even a little, the body doesn't have to work as hard. As the seasons change, here are a few things to keep in mind to stay feeling your best:

- Keep hydrating β€” even in cooler weather, staying hydrated helps keep symptoms in check
- Still avoid overexertion outdoors, even when it feels more comfortable
- Watch for sudden temperature changes β€” cool mornings can shift quickly
- Rest when needed β€” energy management stays important year-round

Enjoy the relief while it lasts β€” you've earned it! πŸ‚

Hi Marybeth I love this time of year lower humidity , pleasant days ,I can get some things done that I've put off all summer , like shampooing my utility room carpet , we have it carpeted because we live on a concert slab and it gets cold so half is carpet and the other half is wood, and we live on a lake with lots of sand not to mention a dirt road.
