I'm never sure if it's because I'm 73 ( and just starting to get old) or MG..I have definitely noticed more of those problems when MG seems to be on an upswing! I M learning to just take bathroom break before I 'need to go'. Being proactive for me is definitely beneficial

Yes Carol I have issues with that too , I stop drinking anything after 6 p.m. so I only have to get up twice in the middle of the night to pee, in the day before I do anything that involves water running I go to the bathroom first, if not I wet myself , at night I wear night time pads❤

That's a really thoughtful question! Yes, frequent urination can be connected to both medication effects and anxiety when living with myasthenia gravis.

Mestinon (pyridostigmine) works by increasing acetylcholine in the body, which helps muscles contract. However, this can also stimulate other bodily functions beyond just muscles, including the bladder, potentially leading to more frequent urination.

Anxiety and stress are also well-known triggers for MG flares and can independently cause frequent urination, as the nervous system becomes more activated when you're anxious.

Here are some important things to keep in mind:

- Taking too much Mestinon can lead to a cholinergic crisis, which includes symptoms like increased sweating, nausea, and other bodily fluid-related issues
- Stress and anxiety can worsen MG symptoms overall
- CellCept (mycophenolate mofetil) can also have side effects that affect the urinary tract

It's really worth mentioning this symptom to your MG specialist or neurologist. They can help figure out whether it's medication-related, anxiety-related, or a combination of both — and adjust your treatment plan accordingly. Don't brush it off as "just nerves!"
