Yes he does take that one! He has a appointment coming up with his neurologist so hes going to tell him about the difficulty..its been going on for a while but is now just telling me about it, I told him he keeps some relief when he takes the medicine so he needs to be honest with us (me and health team) he doesnt like to seem like a burden and I told him hes not(he doesnt like to ask for help) its been really rough because he trys to act like everything is okay but inside hes struggling and having a hard time..it breaks my heart because I dont know unless he tells me .

If one of your Dad’s meds is Pyridostigmine (Mestinon), it’s not good to crush them, I think, but my own prescription requires splitting that pill in half with a pill cutter (1/2 pill 3X a day). Other meds, maybe not.

Carol is spot on, the doctor can prescribe a home health care aide to help and maybe a home Nurse visit to help your Dad organize and get more comfortable with his meds so he doesn’t have to sweat it out every day. That may/may not help with the swallowing, but every little thing that make things easier helps.

The Mestinon pills are huge and if your Dad has gMG swallowing issues, they can be tough. Definitely check with the Doctor, but a pill splitter could be a help. Stay Strong🫡

Maybe look into a home health aide to come to house and assist for a couple of hours a day? If he requires in home physical, occupational or speech therapy his doctor can prescribe it. Depending on insurance most services are free.
