Members shared a wide range of experiences with Mestinon for myasthenia gravis, with many finding meaningful relief in symptoms like double vision, swallowing difficulties, and muscle weakness. Several members noted that digestive side effects like diarrhea and cramping were common but manageable through dose adjustments, probiotics, or pairing with medications like Vyvgart or prednisone. A recurring theme was that Mestinon is often just one piece of the treatment puzzle, and new members were encouraged to be patient as it can take time to feel the full benefit.

Thank you. I got to try it for the first time today and was so happy to have some relief šŸ˜®ā€šŸ’Ø.

Like Joe says, it’s rarely just one thing that helps. I’ve been taking Mestinon for 5 years now plus the Vyvgart for 3 years - for me they work together. I don’t normally take my 3X per day Mestinon dose anymore, but if a flare kicks in, the 3X has had some good effects…If this is Day 1, hang in there it can take a bit for real symptoms relief to kick in…

I take mestinon every day 3 times a day, it helps me a lot actually. I am also getting the Vyvgart infusions. Speaking for myself I am having no side effects from the medications. But while on the mestinon alone I still had some symptoms from MG, specifically chewing, but now with the Vyvgart I am not having any issues.

Mestinon is what I started on and it worked for a little while. I had a thymectomy and then I started getting double vision and so I went on prednisone and prednisone has worked for me many many years. Went into remission
Got down to a low dose of 5 mg a day

It can be a big help, but for me there was a long on ramp before it really kicked in. As Glenda says the side effects can be tough, but worth it…
