Generally, nutritional drinks like Boost and Ensure can be helpful for people with MG, especially if you're experiencing difficulty chewing or swallowing. These drinks provide calories and nutrients in an easy-to-consume liquid form.
However, there are a few things to keep in mind:
Check the magnesium content. Some nutritional drinks contain magnesium, which can worsen MG symptoms or interfere with medications like pyridostigmine (Mestinon). While small amounts are usually okay, it's worth reviewing the label.
Consider the consistency. Thicker liquids are often safer and easier to swallow than thin liquids for people with MG who have swallowing difficulties.
Time it right. If you're using these drinks as meal replacements, try consuming them when your MG medications are working at their peak effectiveness.
It's always best to discuss any dietary changes or supplements with your neurologist or healthcare provider, as they can review the specific ingredients and ensure they won't interact with your medications or worsen your symptoms.

Hi Chery:
I also drink Premier protein drinks, and only one per day. I'll check with my doctor to see if it is harming my situation and report back what he says.
Cheers, Bill Z

Thank you for asking the question! I just checked my premier protein drink and found it had 85mg...is that too much?

I lost 50 pounds to MG. I now drink Kate Farms 455 Calorie drinks at least twice a day. No problem.
