I started on Mestinon and prednisone currently I feel OK but My mind will take over sometimes, when a muscle hurts or I feel like my throat feels weird. I have heard stories about people in crisis and it scares the crap out of me. I am so scared of what may happened. I am very active person a very young 64. Not sure if this makes sense the not knowing what comes next is scaring me. how do you all handle that. Thanks for your patience with me hope this makes sense

I don't know if I am "lucky"? But I was in the hospital and was diagnosed with gMG because I was in crisis. For me it was shortness of breath, so bad, that when I tried to speak could only get out one syllable per breath. So for me, any other acceleration of symptoms means I am in relapse. But everyone of us is different. My advice, be vigilant, but don't live in fear.

Hello Stephen, welcome and sorry to hear about your MG diagnosis. I think most of us have had exactly the same fear of a crisis and what to do. The best advice I can share is to journal your symptoms, good days and bad and things you notice that exacerbate your MG. Next ask a lot of questions of your healthcare/Neurology team. I had those same fears and even went so far as to find the nearest hospital to me that could handle an MG crisis.
My Neurologist explained that you would more than likely have signs that build up over days, such as shortness of breath. I am NO doctor but this caused me a lot of anxiety which we know does not help our MG. Make a list of concerns and ask away but always listen to your body and talk to your Doctor.
Good luck on your journey,
Kellie

Don't think about that!! If you do then that is a stresser and some people trigger there MG which then may cause you to not catch your breath. Just like any meds new to any patient we get to see potential side effects, that doesn't mean we get them. I keep it positive and ck this site for info like this and what a person was doing when the incident happened. I go to sleep at night and ask God to keep holding my hand! We have what we have and its our job to pay attention what we are doing and what we can't do found out how we can do it a different way. We are a smart people, and I think most of us baby boomers 😆. So enjoy each day, hug your family love them and you sleep! ❤️ From the German/ Black woman and crazy to 😆 🤣 Meta

Hi Carol, just a suggestion but you might want to get a medic alert bracelet that says that you have my senior gravis. In case of a crisis you have that information for them to see

Hi Stephen, that is my biggest fear too. I was just Diagnosed with MG A couple of months ago. I am a young 68. It seems all the meds that I’m on have helped and I had an IV infusion. I’m scheduled for another one on February 13, and then doctor said it will be done as needed. I feel really good now. My biggest fear is going out someday by myself and I get an attack. Id Like to go back to work but that’s scary also. I guess we can’t live in fear, and we just have to get on with our lives.
