I have had MG for less than a year, and while I am not in remission I know my symptoms and just rest when they flare up (usually in the evening) and they are just limited to limb weakness and some trouble with my right eye. I am thinking about taking an international trip for a week by myself, and I am just wondering if anyone else has tried doing this and how it went.

I was diagnosed the end of May. We had a trip planned to Europe in August. First neurologist said go. Our new neurologist who is an MG specialist and our local MG support group said that was probably not a good idea. We had trip insurance so we canceled. I also felt it was too soon since I don't fully know my triggers. I feel stable but was too soon.

My daughter goes to Italy every 3 months (she is a photographer) and she knows/stayed at a place where and man owns it from the states (he liked the area so decided to move there.) He has mg my daughter found out but since he moved to Italy he can get basic care for health care. IVIG in Italy is self pay- therefore he does not get is (YIKES!)

Hi Chris πŸ™‹β€β™€οΈ I was diagnosed in June this year, so far my symptoms are managed on Mestinon 60mg 3x day.
My husband & I have a big trip planned to Africa later this month. I have been told by 3 Doctors it's OK to go, just take your medications, have medical insurance, & ensure you have access to medical care. I have checked with both our medical insurance companies & I am covered as long as my condition is managed & no new meds or treatments are started before leaving. We also have cancellation insurance as well. I'm very nervous about this trip & πŸ™ praying I will be ok.
It was recommended to not travel alone & to make sure you tell people about the Autoimmune disease in case something happens & you need help.
I'm well prepared. My concern is how to take my meds with being in a different time zone .
I hope this helps you with your decision 😊
Sorry for my long winded message πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

Whatever insurance you have I would check with them personally and see if you would have coverage. I know with Medicare it wouldn't be covered if you needed a doctor or hospital overseas.

The flights in air were fie The Landings hurt my eardrums. I have tinnitus now. Have traveled at all this year.
Idk if it was MG related but ot has exacerbated it. I now must take lipoflavanoid to dial down the noise daily.
