Members discussed whether Benadryl is a safe sleep aid for those living with myasthenia gravis, with mixed experiences shared across the thread. Several members noted they receive Benadryl before IVIG infusions but prefer not to overuse it, while others pointed to concerns like prolonged drowsiness, nosebleeds, and a possible link to dementia as reasons to stop. A recurring theme was turning to gentler alternatives like Sleepytime or chamomile tea, melatonin, ZzzQuil, or prescribed medications, with many members acknowledging that poor sleep may simply be a common part of living with MG.

They give that to me before treatment so I don't want to overuse it. Also like Kelly Warren it knocks me down forever
I have ok'd this with my neurologist, and use Sleepytime tea by Celestial Seasonings. Works like a charm & does not affect my MG

Hi Carol
Chamomile tea is helpful but I take a prescribed medication called Zoplicone 😊

I get benadryl and 2 Tylenols before every Ivig infusion. They wait 1/2 hr before the infusion begins...so far its happens that way for 45 infusions. I do drift off multiple times during the infusion...don't know if its from that or just tired.
