I had a scan this morning in which Contrast had to be used. I have struggled all day with fatigue, headache, racing heart, and very dizzy. Has anyone else experienced this after having an injection of Contrast in a scan?

Members shared varied experiences with contrast dye reactions when getting scans, with some describing severe allergic responses including burning sensations in veins, facial swelling, anaphylaxis, and inability to walk after the procedure, even when pretreatment medications were administered. Several members emphasized the importance of advocating for oneself by questioning whether contrast is truly necessary, checking with doctors about potential interactions with myasthenia gravis, and considering Benadryl to manage milder reactions. A recurring theme was that contrast dyes differ between CT and MRI scans, individual reactions vary widely, and many felt it was worth enduring side effects only when absolutely medically necessary.

I have had so many it's just become par for the course.
If you want to know if you have a thymoma think about having one.
I'm 65 and age plays a huge roll in treatment but today's tech makes so many things much safer and easier.

Had a CT scan no contrast last year. Then they wanted to do another with contrast. I replied you aren't injecting anything with out checking first. After researching it they said it could effect my MG but they thought probably not. I said thanks but not today and left.

I've had contrast dye with CT scans which I had once a bad reaction. My veins felt like they were on fire. I was crying it ws so bad.

But with MRI I was fine.

The dyes used are different for CT and MRI
