Yes, breathing difficulties with MG can absolutely fluctuate, just like other MG symptoms. Since MG weakens muscles — including the respiratory muscles — breathing can feel fine at one point and then become labored or shallow later, especially with activity, stress, or illness.

One MGteam member noted that shortness of breath would sometimes hit unexpectedly, but was often tied to being tired, having a mild illness, or going through a stressful day. While fluctuation is normal with MG, it's important to know the difference between typical ups and downs and warning signs that something more serious is happening. Watch closely for:

- Breathing that feels significantly more difficult than usual
- Trouble swallowing or speaking
- Shortness of breath that doesn't ease with rest

These can be signs that MG is worsening and may need prompt medical attention. If breathing becomes severely limited, contact emergency services immediately — don't wait it out.

I’ve had fluctuations with breathing problems for a couple of years now ,The fluctuations I have ,vary throughout the day ,especially when I’m stressed (frequently happens),I’ve done to much e.g too much housework in one go and walking too far. When I’m tired it’s worse or when I suddenly feel weak
Happens most days if I don’t pace myself
