Not at the same time but it's a good idea
Hello Brinda .
I have a lot of possible side effects to medications and sometimes local skin reactions to vaccinations. I do believe strongly in the benefit of vaccinations.
My NEURO doc suggests for me to get my vaccines ( DEAD virus vaccines always since I will be on immunotherapy )
ONE at a time ,
around TWO weeks apart. In my experience , I have had NO problems with side effects that way.
The vaccines antibody response after you are vaccinated will take around TWO weeks to work .
The timing of WHEN you receive your vaccine is important to obtain the best antibody response and protection against the illness in the vaccine . Some MG treatments will alter your antibody response to the vaccines received and in some cases you can not wait to be vaccinated prior to starting essential MG treatment.
Prior to stating Immunotherapy I had a discussion with my NEURO doc and an infectious disease doc in regards to my vaccine status.
I updated my HEP B vaccine ( my HEP B antibodies were negative meaning I was susceptible to HEP B ) , verified my pneumococcal vaccine ( pneumonia vaccine) is UTD, obtained meningocococcal vaccine series ( meningitis vaccine) ( prior to immunotherapy) , had the Shingles vaccine x 1 ( had a local reaction) , RSV, received my yearly FLU vaccine ( not the LIVE virus nasal one ) , clarified my Tdap status is UTD and discussed COVID 19 vaccine ( had x 5 in the past without side effects) .
It is best to consult your NEURO doc for vaccine recommendations acknowledging your MG status, your age group and what meds you are taking for MG treatment that may interfere with the vaccine antibody response.
Good idea
