Alice .. it was announced by the Myasthenia Alliance Australia this morning that the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee has recommended that four new treatments be listed on the Australian Benefits Scheme for patients with generalised MG. There have been surveys and the opportunity to make personal submissions about the impact of gmg. I highly recommend you sign up to the Alliance. It will be some months before the treatments become available on the PBS. You can subscribe via https://myastheniaalliance.org.au/subscribe/. MG is not a common condition so don't expect too much from your regular GP. Your GP can however make a recommendation to a neurologist who specializes. The MAA has a video from earlier this year with presentations from 3 Australian specialists.. check it out as I'm pretty sure one is in Sydney. I have had to wait some months but now have an appointment in Melbourne in June. From my experience you need to be actively involved with this condition.. do your research, join the association/s, ask for what you want and need and be assertive about it. It is unique to each sufferer so there won't be a one size fits all treatment. There will be a State Association where you are. Join. You may get early access to a new treatment, and best of luck.

Research has shown that MG can affect cognitive function. Brain scans of people with MG have revealed certain areas of the brain may be smaller compared to those without MG, which can impact memory and learning abilities. However, this is different from dementia and manifests more as brain fog and cognitive fatigue.

These cognitive symptoms in MG can include difficulty concentrating, forgetfulness, and mental fatigue. Many people with MG experience these symptoms, particularly during flare-ups. The most important step is to work with an MG specialist who can help coordinate your care. They can help determine which symptoms are related to MG and which may be from other conditions. They can also provide referrals to other specialist teams as needed and help develop a comprehensive treatment plan.

Consider keeping a detailed symptom diary and writing things down on a calendar to help track and manage daily tasks. One MGteam member found this helpful for managing cognitive symptoms, noting it helps them remember simple day-to-day tasks.

Not sure we can help the forgetfulness. Haven't seen anything on relieving it.
