Great question, and an important one! Some antibiotics can worsen MG symptoms by interfering with nerve-to-muscle signals, so knowing which ones are generally safer is really helpful.

Since you're allergic to penicillin, here are some typically lower-risk options to discuss with your doctor:

- Cephalosporins (e.g., cephalexin, cefuroxime) — Note: since these are related to penicillins, let your doctor know about your allergy before taking them
- Clindamycin — useful for dental, skin, and bone infections, though it can cause stomach issues
- Trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (Bactrim/Septra) — often used for urinary and skin infections
- Nitrofurantoin (Macrobid) — mainly for bladder infections
- Vancomycin — typically reserved for more severe infections Antibiotics generally best avoided with MG include:

- Fluoroquinolones (e.g., ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin)
- Aminoglycosides (e.g., gentamicin)
- Macrolides (e.g., azithromycin)

Always tell any prescribing provider that you have MG. Your neurologist may also need to be involved if the antibiotic choice is complicated or your symptoms aren't stable.

My husband was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) when he was 72 years old 4 years ago. The Rilutek (riluzole) did very little to help him. The medical team did even less. He decline was rapid and devastating. His arms weakened first, then his hands and legs. Last year, a family friend told us about Rakesh Herbs Centre and their successful ALS TREATMENT, we visited their website:https://rakeshherbal.com/ and ordered their ALS Formula, i am happy to report the treatment effectively treated and reversed he Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), most of the symptoms stopped, he is able to walk and eat well, sleep well and exercise regularly., he is pretty active now and his attitude is extremely positive.

I read somewhere that Clindamycin for dental infections was to be avoided due to MG. when i research antibiotics.
Yet AI says it's ok....???
I have a dental infection and need to see a specialist i was looking what can the dentist give me.
I also have allergy to penicillin.
This is distressing......we can barely use anything and who knows if we would react to it.

Im starting to think it a no win situation 😕
