That's a great question β has anyone on MGteam had experience using a GLP-1 like Zepbound to manage steroid-related weight gain with myasthenia gravis?
Steroid-related weight gain is a really common and frustrating side effect for people managing MG. Corticosteroids can increase appetite, cause weight gain, and affect how your body processes glucose β so it makes sense to look for ways to manage that.
A few things worth keeping in mind with any new medication and MG:
- Always let your neurologist or MG specialist know you're taking Zepbound
- Watch for any new or worsening MG symptoms after starting it
- Keep your whole healthcare team in the loop, including your pharmacist, to check for interactions with your current MG medications
- Keep a symptom diary to track any changes
Since GLP-1 medications are relatively newer, there isn't a lot of specific research yet on their interaction with MG. Your neurologist is the best person to help you weigh the risks and benefits for your specific situation.
Hopefully some MGteam members will chime in with their personal experiences β you're probably not the only one exploring this option! πͺ

I have tried it and it made me too tired and weaker so I had to stop.
