Never had a rash before. Lowered the dosage and rash appeared. I’m also under a huge amount of stress . At the same time I lost my only sibling . Could this be the cause of the rash ? Going to call a dermatologist . Hopefully I can get some answers .

I am wondering if I could get some help around the potential causes of what appears to be eczema and even some slight swelling of the ankles. The eczema is on my arms and legs (as well as red bumps). I did some searching on AI and emailing my neurologist and am wondering if anyone has experienced these side effects due to mycophenolate (CellCept). AI noted that because I have titrated off of prednisone that the now skin symptoms may be appearing because the steroids were keeping the negative side effects of the mycophenolate at bay and now that I am off steroids my body is releasing the side effects of the mycophenolate that were previously masked. My neurologist noted that there is probably no connection between the mycophenolate and the eczema but I don't feel that is true. Why else would I get eczema and swollen ankles if I have never experienced such symptoms before. A pharmacist I spoke with described eczema as an "auto-immune thing" which I guess makes sense on some level, but does this mean my myasthenia gravis is causing the skin issues and swollen ankles or is my body just so impacted by mg that it's making me susceptible to other auto-immune things? I feel like I'm desperate enough to go on steroids again to get rid of the skin stuff but that doesn't somehow sound like the best thing.

It’s seems my neuromuscular doctors office feels the same way about my rash coming from lowering my dosage of prednisone. Waiting for them to respond to my further questions .
I know how you feel about the rash . It’s annoying to say the least . Now that u mentioned it my ankles were swollen too. I’ve been attributing it to the high heat we’ve been experiencing. Hmmmm something else to consider . Stay strong !!

A rash can have a few possible connections to MG and its treatments. While ocular MG itself doesn't directly cause skin rashes, a few factors in your situation could be contributing:

- Prednisone side effects — even at lower doses, corticosteroids can affect the skin, including increased sun sensitivity and changes in skin texture
- Stress — significant emotional stress can trigger skin reactions and affect how your immune system behaves
- Dosage changes — adjusting steroid doses can sometimes cause the body to react in unexpected ways Calling a dermatologist is absolutely the right move. When you go, make sure to bring a full list of every medication and supplement being taken — including the prednisone and its dosage history. That context will really help them pinpoint the cause.

As one MGteam member wisely put it: *"Listen to what your body is telling you."* You're doing exactly that. 💛
