Yes there must be a connection between MG and sleep apnea because I have sleep apnea also I just hope one day there is a cure for MG for all individuals living with MG there is not many of us I believe I read about 100,000 people it is a rare condition that many people never heard of and can't see what we are feeling/ facing since it is a snowflake disease so we have to advocate for ourselves.

Sleep apnea is a recognized comorbidity in people with generalized myasthenia gravis (GMG). The muscle weakness that comes with GMG can affect the muscles involved in keeping the airway open during sleep, which can contribute to or worsen sleep apnea.
While exact numbers are hard to pin down, research suggests that sleep-related breathing problems are more common in people with GMG than in the general population. This is largely because the same muscle weakness that causes breathing difficulties during the day can also affect breathing at night.
Here are some key points worth knowing:
- Respiratory muscle weakness in GMG can make sleep apnea symptoms worse
- Poor sleep from apnea can worsen MG-related fatigue and brain fog
- More than half of people with MG experience insomnia or disrupted sleep
- Sleep problems can also affect memory, focus, and overall quality of life
If sleep apnea is suspected, it's really important to talk to a neurologist or sleep specialist who understands MG. Some treatments commonly used for sleep apnea, like certain sedatives or muscle relaxants, may need to be used with caution given MG's effects on muscle function.
Keeping your care team informed about any sleep concerns is a great step toward managing both conditions effectively.
