Why are you experiencing weakness only in your hands while the rest of your body feels fine?

It's actually not uncommon for myasthenia gravis symptoms to affect specific muscle groups while leaving others relatively unaffected. The pattern of muscle weakness in MG can vary significantly from person to person, and symptoms often follow a specific distribution through the body.

Even though you're on Distinon (pyridostigmine) and Azoran (azathioprine), some localized weakness can persist. The fact that your eyes, swallowing, breathing, and walking are all doing well is actually a positive sign that your treatment is working for most muscle groups.

However, isolated hand weakness that persists despite treatment should be discussed with your neurologist. They may consider:

* Adjusting your medication timing or dosage
* Evaluating whether the weakness follows a pattern related to when you take your medications
* Checking if any other factors might be contributing to the hand weakness

It's worth noting that some MG medications can actually cause muscle cramps or discomfort as a side effect, though this is different from weakness itself.

Keep track of when your hand weakness is worst during the day and share this information with your healthcare team. They can help determine if medication adjustments might help improve this specific symptom.
