Other than medications, what should I consider to keep my eyebrows from drooping and harming my vision? Sometimes the medical tape is not enough.

My right eye has been mostly closed for 8 months and the left eyebrow taped open with medical tape for the same period. Without the tape on the left and occasional eyepatch on the right, I have blurred and double vision.

What non-medication options can help with severe eyelid drooping in myasthenia gravis?

It sounds like you're dealing with significant ptosis that's really affecting your vision. Since medical tape isn't providing enough relief, there are several other options to consider:

Medical Devices:
- Eyelid crutches that attach to your eyeglasses and physically hold droopy eyelids open
- Eyeglass prisms to help correct the double vision you're experiencing
- Dark sunglasses to help with light sensitivity and eye fatigue
- Eye patches (which you're already using) can continue to help with double vision

Surgical Option:
Eyelid surgery (ptosis surgery) can permanently lift the eyelids to prevent drooping. A MGteam member shared: "Pyridostigmine didn't work for me. I had to have the ptosis surgery to keep the eyelid up."

At-Home Relief:
Cold compresses applied for no more than 20 minutes can provide temporary relief by helping muscles contract. A MGteam member noted: "When my eyes fatigue, I put cold compresses on them for about 15 minutes, and this seems to help me."

Given that your right eye has been mostly closed for 8 months, it would be worth discussing eyelid crutches or surgical options with your ophthalmologist. They can coordinate with your neurologist to determine the best approach while you continue your treatment plan.
