If you have problems with taking it at night tell your neuro.
Read up on your dx
I'm negative and created auto antibodies because of the thymoma I had. It's some things you'll have to research and then ask your neuro about for clarity.
In my experience my mestinon worked better during the day after meals
I stopped having foot and leg cramps right away and slept better. Because it's time released
Changing my diet also helped
Let your neuro know of any changes you want to make.
Stay hopeful 😎

Mestinon (pyridostigmine) helps improve muscle function by preventing the breakdown of acetylcholine, which is essential for nerve-muscle communication. The timing of medication is important - many find best results when coordinating meals and activities about an hour after taking the medication.

Common side effects that have been reported include:
• Skin reactions (rash, blushing, hives)
• Increased sweating
• Stomach issues like nausea
• Increased saliva production Important Safety Note: If you experience any of these concerning symptoms, contact your healthcare provider immediately:
• Difficulty breathing
• Severe stomach problems
• Blurred vision
• Unusually slow heart rate

These could indicate a cholinergic crisis from too much medication. Always work closely with your healthcare team to find the right dosing schedule and monitor any side effects.

I tried the slow release Mestinon. It did not work well for me. I do not remember the issues, but the generic Mestinon works best. I take 60 mg three times a day. Because of the diahreah issue I had, I take a probiotic before a meal, eat the meal, and then take the Mestinon. That has helped greatly. On occasion, I still get diahreah. Then, I take the Walmart brand of Immodium. It is the same thing except less expensive.

Just read about leg cramps. I do have them nightly. I didn't know the Pyridostigmine was causing it.

I take 90 mg every 6 hours. Side effects include, diarrhea, which I started out treating with Imodium, but heard folks here using yogurt. Now I take two yogurt shots a day, and that is better. I think it causes excess saliva in some people.
