Members explored the challenge of finding B12 supplements without magnesium stearate, with one member sharing how this additive causes uncomfortable muscle heaviness in their neck and shoulders. Several members offered practical solutions, including B12 methylcobalamin from Thorne Brand on Amazon, sublingual dissolving tablets, B12 from Trader Joe's, and monthly B12 injections as alternatives, while emphasizing the importance of consulting neurologists or doctors before starting any vitamin regimen. A recurring theme was that many members actively avoid magnesium supplements altogether on medical advice, carefully reading labels and advocating for products that meet their specific needs.

I used to take a vitamin B12 per my primary care physician for fatigue but did not see any improvement. I stopped it after letting my pcp know there was no change in the fatigue. During my next visit with him I said I knew that insufficient B12 could cause fatigue but was curious what my level was. On my way out of the appointment I had it checked and after 2 months of not taking the supplement my B12 was in the normal range. Also found out that Medicare doesn’t cover the amount for B12 testing! Not an expensive test but given the recommendation from Doctors to take additional vitamins, makes you wonder. I do go through testing for magnesium and liver test frequently as well as renal sufficiency’s since the immune system is compromised. So far everything is ok.

I take B12 supplement but now I'm wondering if the magnesium in them is too much because food contains magnesium. I wasn't aware until I saw this post and article re magnesium.
