Two things really make me feel good physically and mentally...strength training 3 x a week at the gym (over a year now), and my afternoon rest! I do my chores days (housework, laundry, groceries, gardening) for my non gym days. I still struggle with my rest time (telling myself I don't need it), AND the fact remains when I do my dry-eye compress and sleep for an hour or so, it makes a difference. When I am taking good care of me it is also easier to make the healthy food choices and not eat because I am thirsty or tired or I am wanting to self-medicate with food when I am anxious about my future. Sharing helps!❤️❤️😘

Update.
I started Tai chi for beginners recently to help my breathing. It's just some basic arm and leg movements. Not strenuous at all. I only do half of what the recommended amount to start because I don't want to push anything. And only 2xs a week.

I am very accident prone. I fall a lot and it’s to the point I end up with non healing wounds (very slow healing- 3 months, 5 months working with a wound doctor).

When I work with therapists they always start me with the exercises in the link below. I do this every day, laying in bed. It is simple but activates my legs and has helped me while bed bound the last 2+ months!

It gives you a series of 5 gentle but effective and basic exercises. I will do reps throughout the day. At minimum do them before getting out of bed and when you go to bed.

Walking was always on my activity for the day.

I also do the dreaded sit to stands. I set my bed to different heights and practice as I can. I am very tall and have a very hard time, so practice is critical.

Hope this helps!

I use bands and a cane to work on arm strength. That will be another message.

This disease changes us all differently! Thanks for all your shares and words of wisdom and experience. You are 12 years and I am 4 months... worlds apart and yet connected!💞 I am learning to live with MG, not become a victim to it. Hopefully prayers and resilience and sharing in these groups will keep me strong!

Jill Williams that's everything that I used to do back before I got diagnosed since 2013 and then I it all went away and I only was able to walk but I walked vigorously 3 miles 4 days a week now I'll be happy if I can just go out and walk the dog that would be like yeah.
