💬 What strategies have helped you prevent or manage MG?
Illness. A cold will trigger mine.
Johanna , do red lens over your rx glasses help keep the sun out better than regular sun glasses?
My home has blackout curtains everywhere except the kitchen and bathroom. I have blinds in the kitchen. I doubled a matching shower curtain in the bathroom for the window and installed motion detection lights in the ceiling.
I also have transitions light bulbs in the living room that I can control remotely if for any reason even this muted light bothers me.
I installed motion lights in the kitchen and they can be set to stay on during the day since no natural light comes in. They are set on low.
My bedroom light comes on at dusk via alexa and can be muted by alexa.
I listen to audio books a lot. But in the evening when the sun goes down my yes cool off and I can read clearly.
I have tinnitus because sound plays a big part in my sensitivity. I take lipoflavanoid daily. Although when I can't sleep nothing helps to dull the sound except good ol rest.
When I go out I wear a pair of red lenses over my rx glasses.
I do all these things as well as follow rx instructions for my meds and informing my doctors what I do at home.
Nutritional supplements and daily foods
I like to find out the contraindications of each meds I take. What foods I should and should not eat and when is the best time to take each med.
I live in Michigan this winter has been something else heat , cold , and the bright lights , glare from the snow , sun shining off of snow really bother me , I have transition lens but still wear wrap around fit over sunglasses when I'm out side or riding in a car , and when I watch tv can't take the glare of it❤
Bright light indoor or outdoor, heat, not getting enough sleep, and probably not eating properly. I also have fibromyalgia which has been flaring up a lot this winter. I live in Grand Forks North Dakota and we've had a lot of ups and downs in temperatures which don't help. I guess the things I can still do is make sure I get enough sleep and gentle exercises and protect my eyes.
