We had an appointment with our neurologist today. I asked this question. He stated that MG is a nerve/muscle disease and does not cause early onset dementia. That's a relief.

Great question! It has definitely caused me to have brain fog & cognitive issues! I've wondered the same thing myself.

I did some Google diving on this one day a while back and walked away with two interesting points but am not sure they mean anything conclusive. Take what you like:

1. There was only one article that observed the stats of dementia in a group of MG versus non MG people. And there was a higher chance for people w MG people to have dementia. But it ended by saying that the sample size was limited and this seemed to be the only article I found.

2. I found that Mestinon is marketed under other names, and is given to patients with dementia symptoms. I found this interesting.

This was the end of my Google dive. I think more research is needed.
