Good morning fellow warriors
I have a question that has been on my mind for quite some time now. I get very short of breath and extremely weak in both arms and legs with just the least amount of exertion. It doesn't have to be repetitive motion to "do me in." Does anyone else find that to be true? This doesn't happen all the time, but right now, I'm really suffering
I crawled under my desk this morning and plugged in a small lamp on my desk and could just barely get back up on my feet. I… read more

Members responded warmly to a question about whether minimal exertion can cause profound weakness and shortness of breath with gMG, with many confirming this is a shared experience. Several members described similar struggles, including sudden leg weakness while standing, needing to pull themselves up from the floor, and heat making symptoms significantly worse, with some managing through infusions, CellCept, or specialist care. A recurring theme was the importance of finding a trusted neurologist or rheumatologist, monitoring breathing closely, and reaching out for emergency care if breathing or swallowing becomes severely affected.

Hi! I just wanted to share that my neurologist told me to stop my magnesium supplement as it can make MG symptoms worse. I dont recall if there was talk about the specific type of magnesium or anything like that but just wanted to let you know. Best of luck with everything on this journey!

Hi Nicole, thanks for the tip. No, unfortunately no rheumatologist in my area. I'm scheduled to see a neuro the first of December, so we'll see what he has to say. Thanks again for your note. Hope you're having a good day.

I experience leg weakness if I stand too long. It comes out of nowhere and it happens mostly at work so I either have to sit down if I can find a chair in the store or get to my car real quick. It’s very scary. Arms and breathing are usually ok no mg issues there.

Hi Edward,
Thanks so much for answering me back. I'm glad you're on something that seems to help. I was on CellCept for a while, but reacted to it, so the doctor discontinued it. Just my luck!!!! Yes, I agree that heat is definitely the enemy for all of us and it's especially hot this year!
Hope you're having lots of good days with full strength and energy. Wishing you all the very best. 😃
