My neighbor Johnny had double hip replacement a couple years ago and he's 68 now he said it was the best decision he made and everything went the way the doc said.
My personal advice for any surgery, if it increases your quality of life do it.
Has anyone with myasthenia gravis had a total hip replacement, and what should be known about same-day discharge and recovery timelines?
Having MG adds an extra layer of consideration when it comes to any surgery. While same-day discharge and a 2-week driving recovery are becoming more common for hip replacements Show Full Answer
I had total hip replacement in September and went home same day. The only thing I had to do different is I did not start physical therapy for a few days - contrary to the 2nd day therapy requested by doctor. I had to rest my muscles.
I had both hips replaced about 10 months apart in 2012. Both times I essentially walked out of the hospital. In my case, I was admitted 10 days prior to surgery so I could receive multiple rounds of plasma exchange to ensure my body stayed strong enough for the surgery. In both cases, I was hospitalized two days after the procedure. Also, with each Surgery, I required approximately three months of physical therapy to regain full strength and mobility in my hips.
The best advice I can give you is if your hips are as painful as mine were, the discomfort of surgery is nothing in comparison.
