Hey I’ve been on rituxan for awhile now I even have a “rituxan baby” it works however I never personally got to zero or in complete remission I’m actually currently doing the Telitacicept clinical trial that looks like the new age therapy to target musk mg ! I personally coming from a pharmacy background did not want to be on rituxan long term due to personal reasons but that’s pretty much been my only real option thus far so I’m excited to see what the future of medicine brings us !

How do people with MuSK-MG respond to rituximab long term, and can it help maintain a normal life?

Rituximab is used in MuSK-MG and works by targeting B cells — the white blood cells responsible for producing the antibodies that drive MuSK-MG symptoms. By reducing these antibodies, it can help bring symptoms under better control. There are some important things to keep in mind about rituximab and long-term use:

- Responses vary from person to person — MG is often called a "snowflake disease" because no two people experience it the same way
- Some people do achieve significant symptom reduction or even remission with rituximab
- Regular monitoring with your healthcare team is essential, even when feeling well
- One caution worth noting is that rituximab may increase the risk of more severe infections, since it reduces your body's ability to fight off viruses

The goal for many people is reaching minimal symptom expression, meaning symptoms are low enough to allow a good quality of life. Hearing directly from others with MuSK-MG on MGteam about their personal rituximab experiences would give you the most relatable real-world insight. It's also worth having a detailed conversation with your neurologist about what long-term outcomes might look like for your specific situation.
