When my thymoma was removed the surgeon said that there were multiple lymphnodes behind my thymus gland.
Thank you that was very detailed and i appreciate that.
I have a clear understanding now
To be clear those lymphnodes around my thymus were removed during my surgery. My surgeon was very thorough.
Thank you again 🥰
How do lymph nodes affect myasthenia gravis during a flare-up?
Lymph nodes themselves don't directly cause MG flare-ups. However, they're part of your immune system, and understanding their role helps explain what's happening in your body.
After T cells mature in your thymus gland, they travel to your lymph nodes. In MG Show Full Answer
MG is an autoimmune disorder that attacks nerve-muscle communication; it does not typically cause lymph nodes to swell on their own. Swollen lymph nodes during a flare-up are a strong indicator of an infection (like a cold or flu), a known trigger for MG exacerbation. Lymph nodes are where the B-cells and T-cells involved in producing autoantibodies are activated, making them central to the disease's mechanism. Very rare cases have been reported where MG coexists with specific lymphoproliferative disorders like Castleman's disease or lymphoma, which do cause enlarged lymph nodes.
Hi Johanna, your supposed to have lymph nodes so unless you have nodules on them or they swell up I don't think there is anything to worry about. I had 14 removed along with my thyroid due to thyroid cancer. Been cancer free since 2008. Now dealing with this darn MG. Wishing you well in our MG journey.
I know my thymus was making anti autobidies and destroying my Good anti bodies
