I found and tested several good neck braces on the internet. I wear them only during short periods of walking in which they are very helpful.

Myasthenia gravis is very treatable, though it often takes some adjustments with medications to find what works best. The good news is that with proper treatment, most people can do almost everything they want to do.

After prednisone (a corticosteroid), there are several treatment options your doctor might consider:

* Azathioprine - helps regulate the immune system
* Cyclosporine - another immune system modulator
* Mycophenolate mofetil - works to control immune response
* Intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) - can reduce symptoms by regulating the immune system

If your symptoms aren't improving with these medications, your doctor might discuss:

* Thymectomy - surgical removal of the thymus gland, which can lead to medication-free remission, especially if you're under 60 and your symptoms started within the past 2-3 years
* Plasma exchange - filters out harmful antibodies from your blood; improvements can be seen after the first treatment or after a few sessions

Braces are necessary to hold up my head when I stand up or walk. They don't work very well. I bought most of mine online. I did have insurance pay for one that straps my head to a brace and goes past my waist. It is very difficult to do much with it on. I am currently getting IVIG infusions, hoping I will be able to hold my head up. I have LRP4 antibodies and am interested in communicating with anyone else who has this type of MG
